Valerie was a sitcom first airing in 1986. After two seasons it was renamed Valerie’s Family (The Hogans) for one season, then The Hogan Family for its final three seasons.
The title font is Bookman, in italics with an swash alternates employed. The exact version has not been determined. With the obliqued double-storey forms for a and g, it’s closer to ATF’s Bookman Oldstyle (c. 1901) than to ITC Bookman (1975) or Monotype’s Bookman Old Style (c. 1986), which have both cursive italics. Chances are that it’s a modified phototype version.
