First released by Berthold in 1914 as Lo-Schrift (Lo = Louis Oppenheim) in three styles; (a bold condensed) regular weight, accompanied by Lo-Kursiv and fett. Completed with halbfett (1925) and two mager and halbfett “Werk” weights (1926). [Seemann, Reichardt] Also available in wood. Lettergieterij Amsterdam had it as Nero.
All 6 styles were revived by Erik Spiekermann as LoType (Berthold Fototypes, 1980). 4 upright weights were adopted by Mecanorma. [1988 catalog]
